Would you like to review assessment results comparing grade levels or genders? Would you like to compare two administrations of an assessment (e.g., pre- and posttest)? These comparison tools support educators to analyze their data. Remember that you can also download a Microsoft Excel file of your data. Learn more about the data analysis options in this tutorial video.

We offer three different types of comparison. The first compares two different administrations of the same test, as is typical in a pre/post situation. The second compares two different subgroups within the same administration of a test. You may want to compare grades or genders within the same test. And the last allows a test administrator to review the results for a single student on two administrations of a test.

Compare Two Administrations—This comparison is typically used for pre/post testing. Commonly an administrator/teacher will give a pretest to review students' prior knowledge. Then they teach lessons covering the topic (see https://www.cccframework.org/competency-lessons-and-student-workbooks/). After a posttest is given, this tool helps to discern areas of improvement and areas that may require reteaching. Note that this tool is not exclusive to pre/post situations; it is handy for any assessment that you administered twice (two iterations of the same test).

Compare Two Subgroups—Here you can compare two subgroups of a test. This tool is convenient for reviewing whether a specific subgroup may need a different teaching strategy. Examples might include comparing two grades or genders.

Compare Two Tests for a Student—This comparison is used for comparing the progress for individual students. First you'll select the two assessments you're comparing, and then you'll select the student ID.
