Individual Essay Grading For: What does it mean to be assertive?
Question/AnswerPoints
Essay:  Write a 3-part assertive statement to a teacher who falsely accused you of turning in your homework late.
Student Answer:  I did not turn in the assignment late. I realize you have made a mistake, but you cannot accuse me of something you do not know is true or not. Please next time verify the date the assignment was due and when I turned it in.
Essay:  Write a 3-part assertive statement to a friend who keeps making plans with you and then cancelling at the last minute.
Student Answer:  I do not appreciate you canceling plans with me last minute. If you know you can’t make don’t make, don’t make them with me. You have wasted my time don’t do it again.
Essay:  When you choose to be assertive, you won't always get everything you want. With that in mind, why should you still choose to communicate assertively? Provide two reasons.
Student Answer:  Because people like to use you being nice or patient as a way to manipulate you. They know you will let them do or say whatever because you are not mean so they use that against you.
