Question/AnswerPoints
Essay:  Write a 3-part assertive statement to a teacher who falsely accused you of turning in your homework late.
Student Answer:  I would like to know and understand the reason behind this accusation, once you are done stating your reasoning then I will also state mine, and when we are done talking then we will come to a conclusion.
Essay:  Write a 3-part assertive statement to a friend who keeps making plans with you and then cancelling at the last minute.
Student Answer:  I understand that you must have a busy schedule, since you keep canceling. I will no longer be making plans with you though, and once you get your schedule figured out then we can discuss making plans together again.
Essay:  When you choose to be assertive, you won't always get everything you want. With that in mind, why should you still choose to communicate assertively? Provide two reasons.
Student Answer:  You should choose to be assertive, because even if you don't always get everything you want, it's better than having to keep quiet and get nothing, and to be hurt while you do it.
