Question/AnswerPoints
Essay:  Write a 3-part assertive statement to a teacher who falsely accused you of turning in your homework late.
Student Answer:  I understand why you think I turned my homework in late, but I was gone that day so I couldn't turn it in. If you could check the attendance record you can see I'm telling the truth.
Essay:  Write a 3-part assertive statement to a friend who keeps making plans with you and then cancelling at the last minute.
Student Answer:  I get that you are really busy, but it hurts my feelings that you keep cancelling our plans last minute. It makes me feel like I'm the second choice every time.
Essay:  When you choose to be assertive, you won't always get everything you want. With that in mind, why should you still choose to communicate assertively? Provide two reasons.
Student Answer:  Being assertive, even though you won't always get everything you want, is good practice for standing up for yourself or others in a lot of different situations. It can also make you seem like less of a push-over so people will take you more seriously.
