Essay: Imagine that you are struggling to learn a concept in math. Provide brief descriptions of how you would address the first two components of self-regulation to work towards improving your learning. Student Answer: First, I would try to figure out which parts I am struggling on and write down specific details on each section, what equations I need to use when solving certain problems, and how to explain them better in concise detail when needed to provide an explanation. After that, i would go to my teacher for assistance and explain the problem and where I could improve and negotiate a time-frame where I can study exclusively with the teacher and we could work on where I need improvement and take detailed notes on the information that was provided. When an assessment arrives, I can take a week before the assessment to study the notes that were given and take my time to learn every detail in preparation for the test... at most there would be an hour and a half of study time per day in the week before the said assessment. After that, I can see what I did improve on and what I didn't improve on. Knowing this I can repeat this process and discuss it again with my teacher so I can improve further and further down the road. |
