Student Answer: Listen, I really want to hangout with you but you cant keep doing this. You are the one making the plans and then you cancel on me. You should make sure you are not doing anything before you make the plans and ask me to go with you. Especially when I have already asked my parents and they expect me to be going and doing this stuff with you and you cancel my parents get mad because it is a last minute cancel which means they have to change their schedule if I have to get picked up from somewhere because I was supposed to go home with you but you cancelled last minute. |

Essay: When you choose to be assertive, you won't always get everything you want. With that in mind, why should you still choose to communicate assertively? Provide two reasons.
Student Answer: If you communicate assertively you have more of a chance of getting what you want because instead of using a loud tone in voice and being rude about it if you are nice about it but still clear and get your point across it is more respectful and people will not only view you as a better person but also think about what you said and you have more of a chance of getting it. If you are trying to ask your boss for a raise and you are being rude and have a loud tone and interrupting them trying to tell them your point there is less of a chance of them listening and pretty much zero percent chance of you getting that raise, but if you are kind and polite about it and you are not interrupting them and you are listening to what they are saying and telling you then you have a good chance of getting the raise as long as you are doing your work and the things you are supposed to be doing. |
