Essay: Write a 3-part assertive statement to a friend who keeps making plans with you and then cancelling at the last minute. Student Answer: It's ok if you don't want to hang out with me. However, I would rather you say you don't want to hang out instead of cancelling plans. When you do this, it makes me sad that we had plans and than you had to cancel. |

Essay: When you choose to be assertive, you won't always get everything you want. With that in mind, why should you still choose to communicate assertively? Provide two reasons. Student Answer: If you are assertive you may not always get what you want but if you are not, you might never get what you want. Also, if you are assertive, you can find out who your real friends are. |
