Question/AnswerPoints
Essay:  Write a 3-part assertive statement to a teacher who falsely accused you of turning in your homework late.
Student Answer:  I understand you think I put in the assignment late, but I can assure you I didn't. I finished the homework the night it was assigned and passed it in the next day in class. I don't know what gave you the idea, but I did finish it.
Essay:  Write a 3-part assertive statement to a friend who keeps making plans with you and then cancelling at the last minute.
Student Answer:  I get things keep coming up, I do, but you need to let me know about them ahead of time so I don't waste my time getting ready to come for you to cancel last minute. Or you could ask your parents if you have anything coming up BEFORE we make plans.
Essay:  When you choose to be assertive, you won't always get everything you want. With that in mind, why should you still choose to communicate assertively? Provide two reasons.
Student Answer:  Being assertive isn't really a strength for me, so I don't know what I'd do if acting assertively put me in the wrong.
