Individual Essay Grading For: 2022 Assertiveness
Question/AnswerPoints
Essay:  Write a 3-part assertive statement to a teacher who falsely accused you of turning in your homework late.
Student Answer:  My assignment was turned in on time and you need to change it. I turned it in on time there is no excuse for it not to be marked as on time. I won't hesitate to get my parents to complain to the principal about you.
Essay:  Write a 3-part assertive statement to a friend who keeps making plans with you and then cancelling at the last minute.
Student Answer:  If you cannot make a plan and stick with it then just don't make one at all. I will cut you off if you keep doing this. Do not think about making another plan with me if you cannot follow through.
Essay:  When you choose to be assertive, you won't always get everything you want. With that in mind, why should you still choose to communicate assertively? Provide two reasons.
Student Answer:  You're more likely to get want you want in the moment even though people may resent you later for your negativity and lack of basic respect. You should choose to communicate assertively if you really need something immediately and do not care about or see the affects of your long term reputation, likability, or being able to receive help later on.
