Question/AnswerPoints
Essay:  Write a 3-part assertive statement to a teacher who falsely accused you of turning in your homework late.
Student Answer:  Mrs. Smith, I understand that you do not think I turned in my paper. However, I put it in the homework turn in slot on Friday as directed. I would happy to look in the turn in slot for you after class.
Essay:  Write a 3-part assertive statement to a friend who keeps making plans with you and then cancelling at the last minute.
Student Answer:  Cindy, I know that you are very busy but it feels like a big let down when we have something planned and you keep cancelling. If we make plans and you cancel again I will have to pick someone else to do fun things with.
Essay:  When you choose to be assertive, you won't always get everything you want. With that in mind, why should you still choose to communicate assertively? Provide two reasons.
Student Answer:  It sets a clear boundary of what you put up with and how you wish to be treated. It helps you to feel self respect for stating what you want/need and not run over all the time.
