Essay:  Write a 3-part assertive statement to a teacher who falsely accused you of turning in your homework late.
Student Answer:  Ok, I know that you think I didn’t turn in my assignment. However, I know I did and I think some of my classmates can assist me in proving that I am correct. I also have a picture of me turning in the paper, because several students from other classes have said they do it, in order to prove that they did it and that you lost it. I know that you might think you’re correct, but I know that I did it and it angers me that you have so little expectations for ,e as a student and it concerns me that you have a lack of responsibility when it comes to keeping track of important papers.
Essay:  Write a 3-part assertive statement to a friend who keeps making plans with you and then cancelling at the last minute.
Student Answer:  Hey, I know that things come up and we both have busy life’s. However, it hurts my heart when you cancel on our plans together last minute. I get so excited to hang out with you and then it never happens. I really do want to hang out with you! So, could you please try to pencil me into your busy schedule?
Essay:  When you choose to be assertive, you won't always get everything you want. With that in mind, why should you still choose to communicate assertively? Provide two reasons.
Student Answer:  1) You might not get anything you want if you lack assertiveness. It’s better to get some things you want than nothing at all. 2) It is a way to help make sure that every person involved has a chance to calmly and respectfully express their emotions and opinions.
