Dear friend. I know you and I made plans and all, but they end up getting cancelled the last minute. It makes me upset because I was working so hard on preparing everything and all my work was lost. If we could make another project that's close to the previous one or restart the previous project, I'll be able to help with the project.

By being assertive you can help figure out yourself without having too many issues, but if your passive you could get bullied or get made fun of just for being too nice. But if your aggressive people will be afraid to even talk to you, or you tend to get in trouble even if you didn't do anything.
