I understand you think I put in the assignment late, but I can assure you I didn't. I finished the homework the night it was assigned and passed it in the next day in class. I don't know what gave you the idea, but I did finish it.

I get things keep coming up, I do, but you need to let me know about them ahead of time so I don't waste my time getting ready to come for you to cancel last minute. Or you could ask your parents if you have anything coming up BEFORE we make plans.

Being assertive isn't really a strength for me, so I don't know what I'd do if acting assertively put me in the wrong.
